The 55 grain full metal jacket bullet that comes standard with the 223 Remington is used in this cartridge. A tough copper alloy jacket is worn by the non-magnetic, non-expanding bullet to guard against deformation that may make feeding more difficult or loosen precision. To avoid setback on recoil, the cannelure girdling the jacket keeps the bullet securely seated in the case mouth. For target shooting, we advise using FMJ ammunition, but in an emergency where you are the only one left to protect your farm, this case of ammunition would come in extremely handy.

Both handloading and range practice benefit from using USA loads. Remove the used non-corrosive Boxer primers from these rounds and use the brass cases instead! Because the new casings for this ammunition were not polished after going through heat treatment at the manufacturer, their necks and shoulders are a little bit darker than usual.
