20 Rounds of 165gr JHP .40 S&W Ammo by Winchester For Sale
The bullet in this cartridge is a bonded jacketed hollow point. Because of Winchester’s unique bonding method, the bullet’s lead core and jacket don’t separate when they pass through barriers and into soft tissue. By doing this, the bullet is guaranteed to maintain the weight and momentum necessary for good deep penetration.
The jacket of the JHP has six portions separated by a row of symmetrical notches. In order to ensure that the jacket splits apart evenly as the nose cavity fills with pressured soft tissue, these subtly weaken the jacket. This is how the JHP routinely achieves 1.5x diameter expansion, which increases harm to the soft tissues around it while minimizing the possibility of over-penetration harming a bystander who wasn’t at fault.
This ammo’s 165 grain JHP has a muzzle velocity of 1,140 fps thanks to its dependable Boxer primers and low-fouling propellant. That is supersonic and quick enough to deliver close-range targets with over 450 ft pounds of energy. (For reference, the minimal impact energy for personal protection is recommended to be between 220 and 300 ft pounds.)
Cartridges from Winchester’s Defender line have brass cases that have been nickel-plated. They are rust-resistant, smooth enough to minimize metal-on-metal friction that could have hampered feeding and extraction in a semi-automatic weapon, and bright enough to be seen in a weapon’s dark chamber. They are also reloadable. This ammunition also contains flash-suppressed propellant, preserving your ability to shoot precisely in the dark and keeping your eyes accustomed to low light.
